Oklahoma City’s Living Frontier
Welcome to Southwest Oklahoma City — a bold, living tribute to the pioneering settlers who carved a future from the Oklahoma prairie with determination, resilience, and grit. Rooted in the historic Land Run and the very first location on the Oklahoma Territory map, Southwest OKC blends deep tradition with a spirit of innovation.
Spanning 143 square miles across Cleveland, Oklahoma, and Canadian counties, this multigenerational community is home to eight school districts and countless stories of hard work, family, and progress. Here, agriculture, problem-solving, and self-reliance still shape daily life, while neighbors share knowledge, lend a hand, and look out for one another.
More than a place to live, Southwest OKC is a way of life — one that values independence, ingenuity, and collective strength. Guided by the legacy of those who came before us, this is a modern-day frontier where families grow, communities thrive, and the land continues to inspire a resilient, forward-thinking future.

Do I live in OKC?
In Southwest OKC, it’s common for residents to think they live in Yukon or Mustang — especially if their mailing address or school district says otherwise. But when it comes to city services and local government, what matters is your city limits. The easiest way to tell? If you have a blue City of OKC trash can, you live in Oklahoma City.
You can refer to the map at the right for a general idea, but the best way to check is by using the interactive ward map tool on the OKC website: okc.gov/wardmap
